The Kinsman

The Kinsman is specially designed for those sailors who want a manageable, reasonably priced, lifting keelboat for family cruising and racing.

The Kinsman with its lifting keel and rudder and easy launch and recover, enables considerable savings on deep-water mooring fees wherever you sail. The robust construction means the Kinsman can 'take the ground' on drying out moorings. Being 6m long and weighing around 700kg it can be easily towed by a family car. With its own specially designed trailer the Kinsman is easy to launch and recover from a slipway which can be parked on your own drive or garden.

The Kinsman uses the same hull and deck unit as the Yeoman but has a lifting keel and rudder. The New 300 series incorporates such innovations as integral anti-swamp seats, five buoyancy tanks, a central winch module, a mainsheet control module, an easy-use winch to raise and lower the keel, a mast raising and lowering tabernacle and is all GRP construction. Many of these modifications can be fitted to older boats, The Kinsman has EU approval status. Along with the Yeoman this must make the Kinsman one of the safest boats in its class.

The Kinsman has excellent all round performance making it ideal for family use. It is easy to control but has the performance to provide exciting action when racing (competitive handicap 1160). The class has been highly developed at Rutland Sailing club where it competes at the top level.
